Media Highlights Findings From Anatomy Expert
New research from Associate Professor of Anatomy Nathan Thompson, Ph.D., was published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS). The paper’s findings provided new insight around the origin of humans’ heel-toe walking pattern and garnered media coverage in noteworthy outlets including Reader’s Digest and Phys.org.
Thompson noted, “Walking on two legs with the heel-strike pattern—while not the best strategy in terms of force—may have provided our early ancestors with enough energy to explore, traveling longer and further than any other primate.”
