Local Outlet Highlights Intergenerational Event

The Times Beacon Record, a local news outlet serving the north shore of Suffolk County, N.Y., highlighted a recent intergenerational event organized by medical students. On March 27, more than 20 students from the College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) spent an afternoon engaging with residents of Gurwin Jewish – Fay J. Lindner Residences Assisted Living Community in Commack. Here, through a “speed date” format, the future physicians rotated tables, connecting with the senior residents and gaining opportunities to enhance key clinical competencies, including communication, empathy, and bedside manner. The event was organized by NYITCOM’s Maimonides Society and Morgagni Medical Society student organizations.
