ETIC Projects Garner Local Publicity
As seen in Long Island Press, several College of Engineering and Computing Sciences students created device prototypes to assist disabled workers in completing everyday tasks. As noted in the article, one team developed an automatic mixer to help workers with autism spectrum disorder at Spectrum Designs, a local clothing and apparel screen printing company; the other group developed a device called T.R.A.M, (Transport Ready Assisting Machine) to help workers at AHRC-Nassau lift heavy packages. The teams presented their prototypes at the NYSID CREATE Symposium on April 9 in Albany, N.Y., where the T.R.A.M. project secured third place, as featured in an earlier Long Island Press article.
