In Fashion, What's Old Is New Again

September 24, 2015

In 1971, the NYIT Women's Association hosted a fashion show on campus (pictured above) that featured day and evening wear styles.

Now take a look at the image below—straight from the 2015 runways. InStyle Magazine even declared "#NYFW Trend: Fall 2015 Is All About That '70s Show."

In the '70s, The Campus Slate reported the NYIT Women's Association hosted a variety of events, including fashion shows, an appearance by ABC-TV newswoman Melba Tolliver, and Christmas parties for disadvantaged children.

Today, the NYIT Women's Association is still active on the Old Westbury campus, and, yes, the club still hosts an annual runway show—the "Fashion for Life" event—in the spring. For more information, follow the NYIT Women's Association on Facebook and Instagram.
