The More You Know: NYIT Extended Education

August 18, 2017

Have you ever fantasized about competing on Dancing with the Stars? Are you tired of looking at that old chair in the corner of your room and thought “I’d love to reupholster it?”

Ballroom Dancing for Social Occasions and Furniture Upholstery are just two of the courses offered through NYIT Extended Education. Other enrichment opportunities, including a variety of non-credit courses, professional certificate programs, and online self-study, are available through the program, with many of the classes held at both the New York City and Long Island campuses.

“Extended Education offers high-demand programs that are designed to meet the needs of part-time, non-traditional student populations. Our courses and programs can help people extend their skillset, whether they are interested in excelling professionally, personally, or both,” said Jannette Knowles, associate director of NYIT Extended Education.

Many of the classes leverage the university’s core strengths to provide professional training in fields such as architecture. Other course subjects include interior decorating, AutoCAD (computer aided design), Revit architecture software, driver education, and more.

For example, the course Design…Where it All Begins introduces the fundamentals of interior decorating, while in the course Kitchens and Baths, students develop a kitchen and bathroom project.

Courses will begin as early as September and throughout the fall semester.
