NYIT alumni, students, and faculty celebrated at this year’s Latina Hat Luncheon, a networking event hosted by the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, now in its 11th year. Television and film producer Amanda Ramirez (M.A. ’03) organized the event, while Christine Bragan (B.F.A. ’03), vice president of corporate marketing and communications at AMC Networks, was an honoree and the event’s keynote speaker. Bragan also sponsored a table and invited NYIT students to attend.

“Focus on school, make sure you do whatever you need to do to take advantage of any opportunity that you’re presented with,” advised Bragan.

Maylan Studart, a junior majoring in Communications Arts, recapped the occasion for The Campus Slate/em>. “I met Amanda online through LinkedIn and she invited me to the luncheon,” said Studart. “As a communications major, I wanted to cover an event outside of school. It was a great opportunity to network and get experience in my field.”
