New York Tech Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Junius J. Gonzales, M.D., M.B.A., has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Chief Academic Officers (ACAO) for a term that runs from 2020 to 2023.

The organization was established in 2013 to provide a forum specifically for chief academic officers nationwide, beyond the American Council on Education, for networking, sharing best practices, discussing current academic issues, and promoting the educational interests of its member institutions. The ACAO comprises academic affairs leaders from 100 public, private, 4- and 2-year institutions; from not-for-profit, for-profit, research, liberal arts, and technical colleges; from urban and suburban, large and small, specialized and comprehensive, U.S.-based and international universities, colleges, community colleges, and universities.

Gonzales, who joined New York Tech in 2018, has performed national service with past appointments on the Executive Committee of the Council on Academic Affairs for APLU, and Harvard’s COACHE National Advisory Committee, and is currently engaged in a National Academies STEM Work Group.
