May 3, 2017

Senior leaders of Bangladesh’s North South University (NSU) visited NYIT at the end of April to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to encourage cooperation between the two institutions. Areas of possible collaboration include research projects, developing dual degree programs, and student exchange.

Interim President Rahmat Shoureshi, Ph.D., stated, “North South University is the top private university in Bangladesh, with research initiatives and academic programs that present strong synergies with NYIT’s efforts.” He added, “As a global university, we expect scholarly activities to seek engagement with other cultures, populations, and geographic regions whenever feasible.”

Shoureshi visited NSU’s campus in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2016, and Executive Director of Global Engagement Emily Zyko Rukobo followed up with a visit in February 2017.

NYIT deans and other academic leaders met with NSU Vice Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam, who signed the MoU on behalf of NSU, as well as seven members of the NSU Board of Trustees. Professor Islam said on the occasion, “NSU is impressed by the quality of NYIT’s courses, its research credentials, and the caliber of its staff and students. NSU firmly believes that collaboration in research and exchange of faculty and students between the two institutions will be of significant mutual benefit.”
