The spring 2015 cover of NYIT Magazine features the 3-D sculptural installation series, "The Unbearable Lightness and Heaviness of Being," by Yuko Oda, associate professor of fine arts.

Associate Professor Yuko Oda was inspired to create the butterfly sculptures during an artist’s residency where she worked on an organic farm.

The purple background of NYIT Magazine’s cover was chosen to make the artwork pop.

To create the delicate sculptures, Oda used Autodesk’s Maya software and rapid prototyping 3-D printing technology.

In April 2015, ’The Unbearable Lightness and Heaviness of Being’ displayed at OZASAHAYASHI Gallery in Kyoto, Japan.

Butterflies often appear in Oda’s artwork.

This still of the 3-D animation ’Imaginary Mountaintops’ is another project created by Oda.

Oda collaborated with French musician Lise on the 3-D animation exhibited in New York City and Paris in the first half of 2015.
