China-Based M.B.A. Grads Attend New York Commencement

Thirty-eight graduates who earned their NYIT M.B.A. degrees in China traveled to New York and participated in NYIT Commencement in Old Westbury on May 22. The China-based graduate program, a partnership with Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE), held a separate graduation ceremony in April, which was attended by President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., and other NYIT officials. Taking the president up on his assertion that “your NYIT degree is your passport to the world,” the new M.B.A. graduates traveled overseas to join fellow NYIT Class of 2016 graduates—2,900 in total—at the New York event.
New graduate Haiping (Jason) Cai (M.B.A. ’16), who runs his own education and training business in Beijing, said, “The environment here is incredible, and the whole ceremony was brilliant.” His Beijing classmate, Catherine Ye (M.B.A. ’16) added, “My classmates and I have been inspired by the amazing graduation ceremony.”
NYIT School of Management faculty members Paul Kutasovic, Ph.D., Tunc Ozelli, Ph.D., and Scott Liu, Ph.D., welcomed the Chinese students and their accompanying family members at a luncheon following commencement. Liu manages the JUFE M.B.A. program as executive associate dean for global programs in the School of Management.
