Malware, and ransomware attacks, in particular, have emerged as significant cybersecurity threats wherein data is encrypted upon system infection. In the increasingly interconnected world and with the ever-evolving technology stack, ransomware is hitting individual users and big corporations across various business domains hard. When it comes to protection, there is no one size fits all solution, and there is no such consolidated framework that can identify and contain ransomware attacks in one go. We are here to present a framework entailing techniques, tools, and strategies to detect, avoid, and mitigate ransomware. We shall incorporate the modus operandi of the latest ransomware attacks, including some suggestions to contain its spread and bring business back to operation as soon as possible.
