New York Tech Makes List of Healthiest College Campuses

October 17, 2019

New York Institute of Technology has once again been named one of the world’s healthiest college campuses by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

The university climbed the ranks to earn silver recognition in the 2019 ACSM Exercise is Medicine® On Campus (EIM-OC) campaign, up from last year’s bronze rating. Only 139 campuses were selected worldwide to receive a gold, silver, or bronze award.

Long Island campus initiatives such as NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (NYITCOM) Running and Walking with the Dean, shown in the video below, contributed to the award. Other contributing factors included healthy food options and calorie counts in Riland Cafe, frequent health and nutrition seminars, and the campus-wide Weight Watchers program.

Launched in 2014, EIM-OC provides an opportunity for campuses to enhance their commitment to create a culture of wellness. Learn more about the campaign’s requirements for award recognition.
