On October 6, an unseasonably warm fall evening, approximately 1,000 cultural enthusiasts, clad entirely in white, arrived at NYIT de Seversky Mansion for the first Le Dîner en Blanc on Long Island. The epicureans arrived, white tables and chairs in tow, to participate in the pop-up “chic” picnic.

The world-famous event was created in Paris nearly 30 years ago, and has been held in more than 70 cities around the world. Its hallmark—guests gather at a secret location for the purpose of sharing a meal with friends in one of the area’s most beautiful locations.

“The historic NYIT de Seversky Mansion was thrilled to host Le Dîner en Blanc, as our sweeping, elegant grounds provide the perfect setting for this first-of-its-kind event on Long Island,” said Robert Rizzuto, director of Dining Services. He added, “The NYIT de Seversky Mansion team is thrilled to join the list of elite, world-class venues who have hosted this sophisticated event and its glamourous attendees.”

Media outlets featuring coverage of this inaugural event include Newsday and Long Island Press.
