MTPU 701 Clinical Clerkship: Practice of Medicine 2.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This 2 week course is designed to give students an introduction to the practice of medicine. The student will complete reading assignments; online technology mediated learning assignments, and self-assessments. The course will focus on medical documentation, writing orders, communication skills, patient safety issues, and diagnostic errors. The student will learn fundamentals of medicolegal issues, risk management and aspects of medical billing and coding.

MTPU 800 Military Medicine 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This 4- week clerkship allows military students to acquire necessary training and professional development skills and to gain an appreciation for the role of military medicine within the broader US public health system. Emphasis includes professionalism, leadership, cultural competence, and interpersonal and communication skills. The student will participate in diverse learning activities including didactic sessions and experiential workshops. A certificate of completion will be provided by the military.

MTPU 801 Clinical Clerkship: Community Medicine I 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
These four-week clerkships allow students to acquire clinical experience in community health settings. Emphasis is on gaining an appreciation of community resources, patient education and preventive health. The role of psychological, economic, cultural, ethnic, environmental/ecological, and political factors influencing the incidence and treatment of specific diseases encountered by students in the community is incorporated.

MTPU 802 Clinical Clerkship: Quality Assurance 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This four-week clerkship allows students the opportunity to work in a hospital or community based quality assurance office. Students gain experience in monitoring the provision of quality health care from the institutional perspective, including utilization reviews and managed care policies.

MTPU 805 Clinical Clerkship: Alternative Medicine 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This four-week elective clerkship allows students the opportunity to work alongside physicians practicing in the emerging field of alternative and complementary medicine. Emphasis is on gaining experience in evaluation and management of diverse problems from “alternative” perspectives.

MTPU 807 Clinical Clerkship: Preventive Medicine 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This four-week elective clerkship provides students with the opportunity to participate in the delivery of preventive health services in public health or other community based settings. Emphasis is on primary and secondary prevention in targeted populations or at-risk groups.

This elective four-week clerkship allows students to participate in the field of medical jurisprudence. Assignment to the medical unit of a legal firm gives students exposure to the process of medical litigation as well as experience in general areas of health care law.

MTPU 810 Clinical Clerkship: Complementary Medicine 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This four-week elective clerkship allows students the opportunity to work alongside physicians practicing in the emerging field of complementary medicine. Emphasis is on gaining experience in evaluation and management of diverse problems from “alternative” perspectives.

MTPU 811 Clinical Clerkship: Rural Health 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This four-week elective clerkship allows students to experience the provision of primary medical care in rural settings. Emphasis is on ambulatory and hospital continuity of care at designated rural sites.

MTPU 812 Ambulatory Women's Health 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This four-week clerkship provides students with an opportunity to focus on the care of the female patient. The student will work side by side with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and medical professionals in an ambulatory care setting. Particular emphasis will be made in the issues unique to the female patient, breast health, and a comprehensive approach to care. Prevention, screening and treatment with exposure to community outreach, patient education, and supportive services will be highlighted.

MTPU 813 Clinical Clerkship: Ambulatory Male Medicine 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This four week clerkship provides students with an opportunity to focus on the care of the male patient. The student will work side by side with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and medical professionals in an ambulatory care setting.Particular emphasis will be made in the issues unique to the male patient, prostate health,and a comprehensive approach to care. Prevention,screening and treatment with exposure to community outreach,patient education,and supportive services will be highlighted.

MTPU 833 Clinical Clerkship: Occupational Medicine 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
This four-week clerkship provides students with an opportunity to work with specialists in occupational medicine. Approved settings may include industrial/ corporate health centers or preceptors specializing in occupational health problems.

MTPU 861 Clinical Clerkship: Community Medicine III 4.00 College of Osteopathic Med
These four-week clerkships allow students to acquire clinical experience in community health settings. Emphasis is on gaining an appreciation of community resources, patient education and preventive health. The role of psychological, economic, cultural, ethnic, environmental/ecological, and political factors influencing the incidence and treatment of specific diseases encountered by students in the community is incorporated.
