An introduction to the management of human resources for the effective support and achievement of an organization's strategies and goals. The major functions of planning and staffing, employee development and involvement, compensation and reward and employee relations are examined. Decision-making skills in these areas are developed through class assignments. This course also discusses the role of personality assessment through the lens of HR practices and teambuilding.

Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequisite: MGMT 200 or MGMT 201 except BS Information Technology

Linked to a content course, student engagement into community service provides the means to gain a deeper understanding of content course objectives, acquire new knowledge, and engage in civic activity.

HRMT 430 Labor-Management Relations 3.00 School of Management
This course provides the student with a comprehensive introduction to labor-management relations. It examines the goals, processes, legal requirements, and environment of labor relations and the role of employees, unions, employers and government. Collective bargaining, contract administration, the handling of employee grievances, and negotiation and conflict resolution methods are covered. Emphasis is placed on building productive labor-management relationships.

Prerequisite Course(s): Prerequisite: Take LLAW 310 and one course in each group: Group 1 (INTL 301 or MGMT 301), Group 2 (MGMT 205 or MGMT 370), and Group 3 (HRMT 315 or MGMT 315)

HRMT 435 Talent Management 3.00 School of Management
A capstone course in which students will develop a talent management plan for an organization. The course is designed to teach students how to align human resource management practices with business needs. A case study approach will be used.
