EDSE 613 Educational Assessment for Individuals with Exceptionalities 3 College of Arts & Sciences
This course is designed to offer students an understanding of the evaluation process, including appropriate assessment tools necessary for making eligibility, program, and placement decisions. Teacher candidates will evaluate students, and analyze and synthesize the information obtained from various assessment tools in order to carefully design specialized instruction and to monitor progress that meets the individual needs of students with disabilities including those from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds. The appropriate use of assistive technology as well as the most current technological instructional supports will be explored. No prerequisite.

EDSE 615 Classroom and Behavior Management 3 College of Arts & Sciences
This course is designed to provide students with the information they need to facilitate the academic and social development of all learners, regardless of ability level and cultural and linguistic background, through the systematic use of classroom management principles. Consideration will be given to a variety of theories/models and the selection of empirically validated techniques that (1) promote positive classroom behaviors by preventing discipline problems, (2) reinforce acceptable behaviors after they occur, and (3) reduce or eliminate inappropriate behaviors.

EDSE 616 Instructional Strategies & Technology for Individuals with Exceptionalities 3 College of Arts & Sciences
This course will examine basic curricular concepts, instructional technology and teaching practices related to the development and implementation of effective curriculum, instructional practices and procedures that are developed in educational programs for individuals with mild disabilities in various educational settings. Students will be given opportunities to demonstrate competence essential to making effective instructional decisions for learners with special needs. No prerequisite.
