Plain Yogurt Could Slow Biological Aging

Clinical Professor and Chair for the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Mindy Haar, Ph.D., shares her expertise in a Verywell Health article discussing the anti-aging benefits of consuming probiotics. According to a recent trial, overweight participants showed increased weight loss and a 2.2 percent slower rate of biological aging when getting regular exercise and maintaining a healthy diet that included one daily serving of plain yogurt with probiotics.

“As the probiotics contained in yogurt may reduce inflammation and promote the production of protective metabolic compounds throughout the body, it is possible that eating yogurt on a regular basis can affect the speed of the aging process,” Haar said.
