February is Black History Month. Throughout the month, New York Institute of Technology will celebrate by hosting a series of events. The university also recognizes our Black alumni, students, and faculty who are doing great things in their professional and academic careers as well as in their communities. Learn more about them.

Black Student Union and ASA Beads in Culture Event
February 13

Join the New York City Black Student Union and African Student Alliance (ASA) as they explore the culture of bead making within the Black diaspora. Learn how to make beads for the wrist, neck, waist, and more, and learn what they represent throughout our different cultures.

Black History Month Jeopardy with BSU
February 15
12:45 – 2 p.m.
Anna Rubin Hall, room 311, Long Island
Participate in a game show where audience members get to answer trivia questions about Black history. Students can learn about Black History Month and recognize the contributions of Black pioneers who changed the world. Also join the National Society of Black Engineers for its first general meeting of the semester to learn important information about upcoming programs and events.

ASA Owambe Night

Join the African Student Alliance (ASA) for Owambe Night! Owambe is a Yoruba term that means a gathering of Africans. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate life and African culture. Come dance, eat, and celebrate in your traditional attire.

Guiliano Global Fellows: Spreading Care Around the World
Under the Edward Guiliano Global Fellowship program, seven students traveled the globe, broadening their perspectives and working on transformational research projects.
