Psychiatrist Shares How to Ease Into Retirement
News 12 features psychiatrist Liat Jarkon, D.O., director of the Center for Behavioral Health, in a segment about how best to ease into retirement.
Jarkon notes that there are five stages to this phase of life. Those stages include: evaluating assets before officially retiring; enjoying a newfound abundance of free time; addressing any feelings of regret; creating new routines; and protecting your new identity as a retiree.
“[Retirement] is a process,” she explains. “For you to acclimate best to retirement, you have to have a plan, and you also have to have assets—social, financial, and psychological. That’s what makes for the best process.”
