Haar Explains Ginger’s Effect on Blood Pressure
Clinical Professor and Chair for the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Mindy Haar, Ph.D., RDN, is featured in an EatingWell article discussing the effects of ginger on blood pressure. Ginger’s possible benefits include relaxing blood vessels, lowering inflammation, and serving as a sodium alternative in recipes. But Haar notes that more research is needed for a definitive answer on the spice’s effectiveness. “While genetics can be a strong determinant in developing primary hypertension, [which is] one type of high blood pressure, diet may reduce the severity or possibly even eliminate its occurrence,” Haar explains.
