Physician Explains Popular Weight Loss Medication

College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) Assistant Professor Eleanor Yusupov, D.O., has been quoted in a Forbes Health article about the weight loss medication Zepbound.

Zepbound, with the active ingredient tirzepatide, is different than GLP-1 agonists, like Ozempic, in that it affects two gut hormones instead of one, Yusupov said. It is designed for treating chronic weight management in adults living with obesity and at least one other weight-related condition. Those responding well to the drug may stay on it indefinitely, although “for some patients, it may take several months to see full effects; others may respond a lot sooner,” explained Yusupov, an obesity medicine physician.
