Student Emergency Fund in the Spotlight

June 17, 2025

Tiffani Hinds, associate provost for student engagement and development, was quoted in a Newsday article about emergency savings. Hinds discussed New York Tech’s Student Emergency Fund, which assists students who have been impacted financially by unforeseen circumstances during a disaster or crisis. The program provides one-time assistance of up to $500 to New York City and Long Island campus students, helping to address financial challenges that could jeopardize their ability to stay in school.

“We’re educating our students to go out into the world and to change it in a better way,” said Hinds. “A lot of our students are going through life while they’re with us, and so for us to be able to assist them through their personal emergencies, through their catastrophes, in some small way, is great for their success.”
