May 12, 2025

In honor of May being National Mental Health Awareness Month, News 12 interviewed psychiatrist Liat Jarkon, D.O., director of the Center for Behavioral Health, about the importance of resilience. Among other points, Jarkon explains that resilience is the ability to bounce back after loss, and that being resilient reduces the likelihood of experiencing mental and physical health challenges.

“The advantage is that you manage stress better, so you’re able to make better choices with coping, problem solving, positive self-attitude, reaching out for help, and not being isolated. And overall, it gives you a better quality of life,” she noted.
