April 28, 2025

News 12 interviewed psychiatrist Liat Jarkon, D.O., director of the Center for Behavioral Health, for a segment about menopause and mental health. Jarkon notes that the side effects of menopause can be both physical and emotional, including hot flashes, difficulty maintaining muscle mass, brain fog, depression, and anxiety. For women living with these symptoms, Jarkon expressed several solutions, including medication, hormone replacement therapy, and talk therapy. But, she says, the best way women can help themselves is by practicing self-care, like eating right and exercising regularly.
