Frequently Asked Questions
What travel documents will I need before I leave?More
Certain countries, including the United States, have travel document requirements for departure. These requirements may be different from travel document requirements for entry into the destination country and for transit through a country.
The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service that allows U.S. citizens and nationals traveling and living abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate
Can applicants propose to collaborate on a project?More
Students can choose to submit as individuals or as a team. If you plan to submit as a team, each team member should fill out their own unique application. Each team member should be specific about their personal contributions to this project and why they, as an individual, need to be funded in order for it to succeed. Applications will be evaluated individually, not as a group.
Can a project based in more than one country or city be approved?More
Yes. As long as the proposal falls within the fellowship guidelines, it is possible to be approved for a project based in more than one location.
Am I still eligible if I don't know the language of the country in which I wish to propose a project?More
This depends on the project. Factors taken into consideration include whether there is a faculty or staff leader, if it is a collaboration with a non-profit organization with which you have been in communication, or if your project does not require a mastery of the language.
Can I still be funded for a project that occurs post-graduation?More
Students may apply for a grant that commences in their last semester and concludes not more than one month after their graduation.
I need more or less money than the fellowship amount for my project. Am I still eligible?More
Yes. If you need more than the fellowship amount, you are responsible for the remainder of the project costs. If you need less than the fellowship amount, you will only be granted what is required for your project budget.
