When you enroll in our program, you will be required to sign a unique Student Agreement, that commits you to complete community service activities, earn industry contact hours, attend professional development seminars, and obtain two certifications to ensure that you graduate with not just a degree, but hands-on experience and a competitive resume.

Summer Hospitality International Internship Program

Earn credits while interning at an international hospitality destination location. Spend your summer in Barcelona, Dublin, Florence, Hawaii, New Zealand, or South Africa in a program especially designed for NYIT hospitality students.

Costa Rica Sustainable Tourism Course

Spend intersession in Costa Rica, immersing yourself for eight days in the country’s culture and observing its sustainable tourism practices. You’ll enjoy tours and seminars led by general managers and sustainability managers from the country’s top hotels; meet and discuss sustainable practices with local civic leaders, and government officials; and help a local hotel in their efforts to apply for certification as a sustainable business. You’ll also visit monkey preserves, eco-lodges, and zip-line over national park lands while staying in a local villa staffed with native chefs who will introduce you to local cuisine.

Clubs and Organizations

The Society of Hosteurs

The Society of Hosteurs is one of NYIT’s oldest ongoing clubs. Our mission is to engage hospitality-oriented students in academic, professional, and cultural experience that pertain to the hospitality industry. We emphasize the importance of engaging our students in initiatives that support scholarly academic studies, such as industry tours, conferences, fundraising programs, workshops, and guest speaker seminars. The club has been awarded and recognized many times for its contributions to student education, engagement and community outreach. We also support a number of charity programs including Covenant House of New York City, City Harvest, and St. Jude Children’s Research.

National Society of Minorities in Hospitality NYIT Chapter (NSMH)

The National Society of Minorities in Hospitality is a non-profit, student-run organization that emphasizes multicultural and global perspectives while welcoming minorities from around the world to the hospitality industry. We provide our members with a competitive advantage through programs and conferences, networking opportunities, scholarships, and career development services. Campus events include community service and volunteer activities (Breast Cancer Month, Relay for Life, food/clothing drives), fundraising events (raffles, bake sales, game nights and tournaments), and social events (T-Shirt Day, A Taste of Culture, Mock-tail Parties).

Professional Convention Management Association NYIT Chapter (PCMA)

Learn, connect, and grow by joining this professional organization representing more than 6,000 meeting industry leaders from 17 chapters in the United States, Canada and Mexico, including planner professionals, suppliers, faculty, and students. Along the way, gain access to unique educational resources, networking opportunities, scholarships, and internships opportunities. Participate in national conference and educational workshops with industry leaders.
