To Write Love On Her Arms

October 8, 2020
12:45 PM – 2:00 PM

Join us for a discussion with Jamie Tworkowski, founder of To Write Love On Her Arms, a non-profit organization "dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery."

"We believe:

  • You were created to love and be loved.
  • People need other people.
  • Your story is important.
  • Better days are ahead.
  • Hope and help are real."

Jamie Tworkowski is the founder of To Write Love On Her Arms. He started TWLOHA in 2006, as an attempt to tell a story and help his friend Renee Yohe as she was struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury, and suicidal thoughts. He wrote about the five days he spent with her before she entered a treatment center and sold T-shirts to help cover the cost. When she entered treatment, he posted the story on MySpace to give it a home. The name of the story was “To Write Love on Her Arms,” and Jamie soon found himself answering messages from people around the world. He'd stumbled on a conversation that couldn't be ignored.
