Superconducting State in Plasma Vortical Dynamics

April 13, 2021
12:30 PM – 2:00 PM

Electromagnetic signatures of a conventional superconductor can be predicted from the London equations, which predicts the expulsion of magnetic flux from the interior of the superconducting materials. On the other hand, you can reformulate the problem of superconductivity in terms of charged fluid hydrodynamics. In this talk, Chinmoy Bhattacharjee, Ph.D., assistant professor of physics, will discuss how the electrodynamics of superconductivity can be understood from the perspective of plasma vortical dynamics. He’ll also elaborate on how different types of plasma states can be constructed in vortical formalism in plasma physics.

This presentation is part of the Spring 2021 Math & Physics Joint Seminar Series, which features exciting talks by our own faculty member on the topics of their research.
