Math-Physics Seminar: Quantum Chaos: The breaking of symmetry and degeneracy

November 30, 2021

Roger Yu, Ph.D.

The quantum properties of a chaotic system such as an irregularly shaped nanostructure have attracted much interest lately because of its realistic nature.

Join us on Tuesday, November 30, from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. for a talk on the differences between spectra of eigenvalues of chaotic and regular systems. The analysis of histograms of eigenvalues with and without symmetry demonstrates sharp contrast of statistical behavior. The similarity between nanosystems and macroscopic systems such as microwaves, photonics, and phononics will also be noted.
