Marijuana: The Science of Addiction & Effects on the Brain

The legalization of marijuana and its potential impact on society is a topic of concern. To begin a dialogue about this topic, the office of Counseling and Wellness have scheduled Dr. Stephen Dewey, who is a research professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine. Dewey will provide information on the science of addiction and its effects on the brain. During his 24-year tenure at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Dr. Dewey conducted research on the effects of addictive drugs on the human brain. His research has been featured on 20/20, Dateline, and other major network news programs.
