We hope you are able to join us at the Third Annual Ingenium Awards Reception on Thursday, April 18, at NYIT de Seversky Mansion as we celebrate New York Tech College of Engineering and Computing Sciences' accomplishments and honor fellow alumni and friends.

This event provides a great opportunity to network, celebrate success, and inspire and support our students. 2024 Award Recipients


Wilson Milian

2024 Hall of Fame Honoree


Wilson Milian, M.B.A., PE, SMIEE (B.S. ’92)
AVP and Senior Program Director, AECOM Transit & Rail System Engineering, NYC

Wilson Milian (B.S. ’92) is an accomplished transit executive and professional engineer. His career began at MTA New York City Transit and spanned four different capital and operating departments in his 30 years of service. In that time, he contributed to and managed projects in infrastructure, information technology, signals and train control, and communications-based train control (CBTC) systems technology and innovations. He retired in 2022 as AVP, senior program director for CBTC technology and innovation. Wilson is a New York State licensed professional engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and an M.B.A. in Management. Recently Milian has joined AECOM as AVP, senior program manager in their AECOM Transit & Rail System Engineering Group.

His projects included the first CBTC project on the Canarsie “L” Line as director of CBTC software applications, then as the design manager for the Flushing # 7 Line CBTC project. Milian retired from NYCT as the AVP for Technology and Innovation before joining AECOM, a global engineering consulting company delivering critical transportation infrastructure projects.

Milian is also a senior member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) having served as a volunteer officer for the IEEE for over 20 years in various roles, including serving two terms as the chair of the IEEE NY Section. Wilson is also a member of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society and is currently a senior member of the IEEE Standards working group helping to update CBTC Standards 1474.


Omair Khanzada

Omair Khanzada (B.S. ’16) has carved a notable path in the engineering world, combining technical expertise with visionary leadership. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Khanzada's academic journey laid the groundwork for his professional achievements.

Upon graduation, Khanzada embarked on a career that quickly ascended through the ranks of the engineering industry. His passion for mechanical engineering, coupled with a keen business acumen, led him to co-found Tower Consulting Engineers. As a partner and co-owner, Omair has been instrumental in shaping the company's strategic direction, focusing on innovation, quality, and sustainability.

Under Khanzada’s guidance, Tower Consulting Engineers has grown to employ 40 highly qualified engineers, offering a range of engineering and design services across the Northeast. The firm is known for its commitment to excellence, delivering projects that not only meet but exceed client expectations. Khanzada's leadership has fostered a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring that Tower Consulting Engineers remains at the forefront of the industry.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Khanzada is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of engineers. His commitment to education is evident in his ongoing engagement with New York Tech. He actively recruits and employs graduates from New York Tech’s engineering programs, offering them opportunities to work on challenging projects and to develop their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

On a personal note, Khanzada is a devoted family man, blessed with two beautiful children. His role as a father is central to his life, and he strives to instill in his children the values of hard work, integrity, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Khanzada's journey is a testament to the impact that a combination of education, dedication, and visionary leadership can have on the engineering industry and beyond. His contributions to the field, commitment to education, and role as a family man make him a distinguished figure and an inspiration to aspiring engineers everywhere.

As chief information officer, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc., Arnie Leap (B.S. ’93) oversees all aspects of information technology for the company, including day-to-day technology operations, software development, data governance, the technology roadmap, and corporate security. Before joining 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. in 2013, Leap spent 16 years at Direct Insite Corp., a provider of on-demand cloud-based software, where he worked in various roles of increasing responsibility culminating in his position as executive vice president, CTO. Prior to his time with Direct Insite Corp., Leap held several software development and management positions.

Leap is an active member of Business Executives for National Security (BENS), a nonprofit organization through which he volunteers his experience and expertise to help national security agencies address challenges including risk assessment and cyber security. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from New York Institute of Technology.
