In this workshop, we’ll explore historical artifacts and a timeline of LGBTQIA+ civil rights activism. How have the events of Stonewall impacted New York City's LGBTQIA+ residents? Can we use the limited police arrest record data to make inferences about “safety” and “security” for LGBTQIA+ people? How have the laws and criminalization of LGBTQIA+ people changed over time? Can this methodology be applied to other civil rights movements?
