Associate Director and Art and Architecture Librarian Vanessa Viola supports research, visual literacy, mapping, and digital humanities on behalf of the School of Architecture and Design and New York Tech community.

Viola was a digital printmaker who collaborated with artists at the atelier and publisher Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE). She holds degrees in illustration (B.F.A., Syracuse University), library science (M.L.I.S, St. John's University) and instructional technology (M.S. IT, New York Institute of Technology). Additional interests include developing library collaborations and data curation. She also is an Open Data Ambassador in New York City, helping New Yorkers gain fundamental data literacy skills and reduce barriers to open data for transparent government.
