Peter Harris is a professor of accounting and finance and teaches undergraduate and M.B.A. introductory and advanced courses in accounting, finance, taxation, risk management, and experiential learning. Harris has been preparing students for successful professional careers, including passing the CPA and CFA examinations, for over 30 years. He has more than 350 referred publications, with approximately 175 refereed journal publications, and has presented his research at over 100 conferences, including The American Accounting Association. Many of his publications are in top-tier scholarly and leading professional journals, including The CPA Journal and The American Business Review. His intellectual contributions are also being utilized in New York Tech courses, and several of his case studies have been adopted by various AACSB-accredited global universities as part of their curriculum. Harris has received dozens of awards for outstanding research, with many of his works having been featured in the SSRN Top 10 Downloaded listings. He also serves on the editorial board of several journals where he acts as a referred manuscript reviewer in top journals such as Sustainability and Journal of Risk and Financial Management, discussant, and conference chair. Presently, Harris is a contributing editor for Thompson Reuters, where his column appears bi-monthly in their subscription-paid Internal Auditing journal.

Harris is a graduate of Columbia University, where he earned an M.B.A. with honors as a finance and accounting major. He has also earned over forty professional designations (some retired) in financial services, many of which represent the "gold" benchmark industry standard in the fields of accounting, finance, financial planning, investment advisory services, financial forensics, anti-fraud, business valuation, risk management, life insurance, property and casualty insurance, taxation, and internal auditing (i.e., CPA, CFA, CMA, CIA, CLU, CPCU, CVA, CFP, CFE, ARM). Harris has served as a consultant and expert witness in the construction industry where he performed an array of financial services for small business entities. He is a frequent contributor to Thompson Reuters Construction Accounting and Taxation journal, and consistently presents construction-related financial issues to the Construction Financial Management Association, where he has been designated as the "subject matter expert on construction revenue recognition issues" and is often called upon to present, updates and provide input in this matter. He is the author and co-author of a number of chapters of "The Book" a.k.a. Financial Management and Accounting for the Construction Industry, and has also produced many YouTube videos on construction and anti-fraud related issues which have surpassed 8,000 views (#13, 18, and 19 in playlist).

Harris has successfully passed peer review in New York state as a Certified Public Accountant. He has previously worked for Ernst and Young, LLP. at their global New York City headquarters, where his major clients included American Express and Exxon-Mobil Corporation.

Harris has extensive experience in various media outlets where he has been cited on television, radio, newspaper, YouTube, and professional business magazines. Harris had a weekly radio show on Sunday morning on New York City Public Radio, where he discussed financial matters. He also had a featured two-hour evening show on Sundays where he invited experts to discuss and answer viewer questions on investment and taxation issues. Harris provides pro-bono work to the community where he serves on many nonprofit organizational boards. He has and continues to be a contributing member to many professional and educational organizations such as The CFA Society where he graded the CFA exam and served on their curriculum committee for a decade, AICPA, American College, CPCU Society, CFMA, Association of Fraud Examiners (ACFE) where he is the vice chair of The Higher Education Committee, GLEIM, and Wiley Publishers, and is continually approached by educational organizations to contribute to the development of their CPA and CFA review courses. Harris also volunteers in many New York Tech committees where he continues to provide input in the review, improvement, and creation of curriculum-related matters. He has developed dozens of courses and several new programs over the years which are consistent with the stringent New York State, industry, and AACSB accreditation standards. Harris is the current chair of the Law Economics Accounting Finance (LEAF) department, where he served from 2008 to 2012. He also initiates student experiential learning projects, is the faculty advisor to the Finance Club, Advisory Board member to the Risk Management Association, and participates ass in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
