Melissa Battista has been in the field of education since 2009.  She began her teaching career as a student teacher at Stony Brook University. After earning her degree in Spanish Language and Literature, she became a permanent substitute teacher for Comsewogue School District, tutoring for all levels of Spanish and ESL classes. Battista received a graduate degree in TESOL from Adelphi University, where she worked for five years as a full-time instructor.  She taught all levels of ESL classes ranging from basic beginner to high advanced. During the summer of 2015, Battista had the opportunity to teach a four-week intensive course in Iguala, Mexico.

At New York Tech, Battista is responsible for teaching ESL classes, advising students, coordinating student events, and helping to develop various forms of assessments and curriculum. She is a certified TOEFL administrator and administers the exam about once per month.  She recently went abroad to teach a five-week summer intensive course in Beijing, China.
