Christine Hutak began teaching pharmacology at NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991 as a full-time faculty member. During her tenure at NYITCOM, she has lectured in pharmacology, clinical toxicology, and had served as a scientific instructor for the biomedical sciences research course. Since 2005, Hutak has served as a facilitator and academic coordinator for the preclinical problem-based learning curriculum, the Doctor Patient Continuum (DPC), in NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Hutak’s past research area of interest involved developing a cell model for ocular permeability, which resulted in several publications. Currently, she is concentrating her efforts on medical education and studies evaluating academic outcomes for different teaching methodologies including problem-based learning. She earned her doctorate degree at St. John’s University in 1991.
