We got a taste of spring this weekend. It was nice to bask in the glow of a spring afternoon while watching the Bears compete. Softball rebounded taking three out of four, baseball took it on the chin coming out on the short side a a three game slugfest, and lacrosse went on a eight hour bus ride to win in OT. With all the outdoor action going on I managed to have the time to witness a new conference initiative on Saturday. The East Coast Conference sponsored a Spirit Showcase at Molloy College. Cheerleaders and dance groups from colleges on LI came together to strut their stuff and cheer for a worthy cause. All proceeds went to the Make a Wish Foundation. The event was well attended and I have been told raised a little over $2,500.00! Our ladies from NYIT, and our mascot Smillie the Bear were there to support the program and give everyone a taste of Bear pride. I am so very proud of the ladies and their coaching staff. They have come so very far since we re-established the program two years ago. They have have worked very hard to become a cohesive group that activity supports the entire athletic program. Kudos to coaches Alex and Carolyn. Their interaction and support has enabled our young ladies to believe in themselves and blossom into a picturesque garden of success. They should be very proud of themselves. This is Cool Mac and I am out. Remember, peace is always in never out. Make today a good one so tomorrow is a better one.
