Estimated Costs of Attending New York Tech
The Cost of Attendance is an average of reasonable education-related expenses. We understand that some students may have needs greater than what we include. Any student who feels that they need more assistance may request an adjustment to the cost of attendance that meets federal Title IV regulations issued by the Department of Education. The student will be required to provide proper documentation for any adjustments to be considered.
All budget increases must be pre-approved by the Office of Financial Aid. Please be aware that an increase in your budget may result in additional borrowing eligibility. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact us at finaid@nyit.edu.
Below are the estimated costs of attending the New York Institute of Technology during the 2024–2025 academic year for an undergraduate student enrolled full time (enrolled for 12 to 18 credits), and the estimated costs of attending as a graduate student enrolled full time (enrolled in nine or more credits) for fall and spring (tuition for graduate students is assessed by the number of credits enrolled for that semester1).

2) On-Campus housing estimate is based on the average cost of a standard double room for New York City residence halls. These costs may vary depending on the room you choose. Your individual cost of attendance may be adjusted upon request with proper documentation.
3) Off-Campus and With Parent housing estimates are based on the Consumer Price Index.
4) Off-Campus housing is estimated based on average rentals from five local areas. Formula = nine months of average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Manhattan.
5) Food costs are estimated based on the Official U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Plans.
6) Miscellaneous/Personal Expenses include phone charges, clothes, entertainment, laundry, and other costs. Although your actual expenses will vary, these estimates should help you plan a budget.
7) Transportation estimate for NYC campus and on-campus residents is based on monthly Metrocard purchase over a nine-month period. Long Island off-campus estimate was calculated using the IRS (2024) standard mileage rate of $0.67 per mile for a round trip of 30 miles to/from New York Tech for 30 weeks, five days per week. This represents the average estimated annual transportation cost for a full-time student.
