How to Apply and Receive Your Benefits
STEP 1 - Complete an Application to New York Tech

STEP 2 - Apply for Financial Aid
MoreLearn about financial aid opportunities at New York Tech. Get a FSA ID and complete your FAFSA application.
NOTE: To complete your 2022-2023 FAFSA, you can use the Data Retrieval Tool to transfer yours and your parents 2020 federal tax information to the FAFSA .
To complete your 2023-2024 FAFSA, you can use the Data Retrieval Tool to transfer yours and your parents 2021 federal tax information to the FAFSA .
New York Tech's Long Island Campus and New York City Campus Federal School Code ("Title IV" code) for putting New York Tech as a school of your choice on the FAFSA is 002782.
STEP 3 - Submit an Application for Veteran Education Benefits
MoreVisit the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website and complete your Application for Veteran Education Benefits (Form 22-1990). Apply online or print and fill out a PDF application.
STEP 4 - Submit your New York Tech Veteran Services form
MoreOnce you’ve submitted your Form 22-1990, fill out and submit your New York Tech Veteran Services form to Nancy Borchers via email at nborcher@nyit.edu or by fax (516.686.1074) or by mail to the address below
STEP 5 - Submit Certificate of Eligibility to New York Tech
MoreOnce you receive your Certificate of Eligibility from Veterans Affairs, forward a copy to Nancy Borchers via email at nborcher@nyit.edu or by fax (516.686.1074) or by mail to the address below.
You will receive confirmation of your certification for veterans benefits once you’ve been accepted and enrolled at New York Tech.
STEP 6 - Submit your military transcripts to New York Tech’s Office of Prior Learning
MoreOnce you have been admitted to New York Tech, have your military transcripts sent to New York Tech for prior learning credit review.
STEP 7 - Apply for the Yellow Ribbon Program
MoreYou will be alerted by the Office of the Registrar when the Yellow Ribbon Program application process is open for New York Tech students each semester. Application instructions will be provided via email at that time.
