Attendance Notification Policy

New York Institute of Technology recognizes that the current pandemic situation complicates face-to-face attendance for many students. We value the way that being physically present in the same space promotes dynamic interactions and community building. As such, we are making these opportunities available as much as possible. To minimize risk of COVID transmission, New York Tech has modified classroom arrangements, and instructors are modifying their modes of instruction to make the best and safest use of space while also utilizing technology-based modes of instruction that have been shown to meet our learning objectives.

Students are expected to attend their courses in the modality assigned. Students enrolled in courses taught in a modality that they prefer not to follow, or are unable to follow, should work with their advisor to see if a change in schedule can be made. If a change in schedule is not feasible, follow the steps below to submit a request for an accomodation.

Please email the Temporary Fall 2021 Attendance Policy form to Assistant Director, Walter Mayer at accessibility@nyit.edu. All requests will be handled through the Office of Accessibility Services. Students will be notified and will receive an official letter from the Office of Accessibility Services.

*Please note:

  • This policy does not apply to students enrolled in the School of Health Professions. Those students must adhere to the attendance guidelines as set forth by the Dean of the School of Health Professions.
