Learn how to help patients regain their physical, social, and emotional strength. Discover how science and health converge to advance healthcare, and gain the skills to assist people with impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions due to physical injury, illness, psychosocial dysfunction, developmental or learning disabilities, socioeconomic status, cultural differences, or the aging process.

In our close-knit program, you’ll participate in faculty-led research initiatives across academic disciplines, including engineering, computer science, and sports medicine, and in areas such as hand therapy, pediatrics, concussion therapy, physical rehabilitation, and sports and fitness. You’ll explore how virtual reality, mobile technology, and gaming applications can expand the impact of health and wellness and advance the healthcare field.

How You’ll Succeed

Throughout our Occupational Therapy, M.S. program, you’ll be exposed to a range of new and emerging technology to help you prepare for impactful work in the increasingly digital-driven healthcare industry. You’ll design and construct adaptive devices and equipment utilizing 3-D printers; use immersive and augmented virtual reality; learn about new power wheelchairs with state-of-the-art demonstrations from wheelchair users and vendors; and work with our brand-new driver simulator to learn how to assess people with disabilities’ readiness to return to operating vehicles.

Upon graduating from the program, you’ll have the tools to help patients maximize their independence, prevent further disability, and maintain health.
