Vancouver, B.C., Canada  – To accommodate recent growth in enrollment, the Vancouver campus of New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) has expanded from its downtown Vancouver location to two additional spaces at Vancouver’s Broadway Tech Centre.

The new Broadway Tech Centre campus will serve as the instructional center for 300 students enrolled in the Master of Science in Information, Network and Computer Security (M.S.-I.N.C.S.) program—the only graduate degree in cybersecurity offered in British Columbia—as part of NYIT’s College of Engineering and Computing Science. Located at #450-2985 Virtual Way and #150-2955 Virtual Way, the 11,000 square foot space features a dedicated cybersecurity lab, classrooms, faculty offices, and a student lounge.

The expansion was celebrated at a November 15 grand opening event attended by more than 70 guests, including representatives of Vancouver’s tech community, I.N.C.S. program alumni, and faculty and staff. Henry C. “Hank” Foley, Ph.D., president of NYIT, sent greetings via video as part of the event.

In operation for more than 10 years, NYIT-Vancouver offers master’s-level programs including Energy Management, Cybersecurity, Instructional Technology, and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degrees in both management and finance.

NYIT-Vancouver currently welcomes students from 25 countries at its downtown Vancouver and Broadway Tech Centre locations. “NYIT-Vancouver has experienced an unprecedented 279 percent growth in enrollment in the past two years,” said NYIT-Vancouver Executive Director and Campus Dean Irene Young. “We expect that growth to continue as we introduce new technology-focused master’s degrees in upcoming years in line with workforce needs and Vancouver’s growth as a center of technology excellence.”

Graduates of NYIT-Vancouver’s M.S.-I.N.C.S. program, offered since 2014, are employed in the IT departments of a variety of large organizations or serving in a consulting role helping smaller companies ensure a secure IT environment.

President Foley said on the occasion, "The future is bright for NYIT makers, doers, innovators, and inventors seeking careers in British Columbia—or for that matter, anywhere in the world." He added, "The entire NYIT community is incredibly proud of our Vancouver campus."
