Andrew Berner, president of Jonesboro, Ark.-based Jetton General Contracting, has been appointed to New York Institute of Technology’s Board of Trustees, according to Henry C. “Hank” Foley, Ph.D., president.

Berner, who resides in Northeast Arkansas, is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, as well as a member of the Chancellor’s Circle at Arkansas State University. New York Institute of Technology has medical school campuses in both New York and Arkansas.

“Andrew Berner’s business insight, acumen, and connections to the Jonesboro region will be valuable additions to New York Tech’s board, and his dedication to helping underserved communities makes him an excellent role model for all of our students, far beyond our medical students in Jonesboro,” Foley said.  

Berner joined Jetton, a wholly owned independent contractor that specializes in fast-paced, complex construction projects in multiple industries, in 2008. He purchased the company in 2014 and shortly after became president in an effort to guide the company’s growth and execution of construction projects across the United States. Under his leadership, Jetton has completed projects in 25 states and leads specialty construction for some of the nation’s largest retailers. Currently, Berner holds licenses in 11 states and has been certified by the International Code Council and the National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies. 

In addition, he is the founder of University Lofts, a developer of uniquely designed microlofts with a mission to offer affordable, all-inclusive housing options in college towns in the mid-South. 

“I am honored that President Foley and the leadership team at New York Tech have asked me to serve on the board of trustees. This appointment reaffirms New York Tech’s commitment to the state of Arkansas and the Delta Region. I look forward to reciprocating on that commitment by serving the entire university,” Berner said.

Berner also serves on the Downtown Jonesboro Business Improvement District Commission. Through the Gregory William Berner Foundation, created in honor of his father, he and his wife focus on the needs of underserved communities, families, and children whose lives can be positively impacted by the foundation’s efforts. One of its first initiatives was to establish an endowed scholarship at NYITCOM at Arkansas State to help fund the dreams of future physicians.
