New York Tech student-athletes continued to shine in the classroom during the fall 2019-2020 academic year, with 127 student-athletes named to the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll. Student-athletes who achieved at least a 3.2 GPA were recognized at a luncheon at Recreation Hall in October 2019.

“The Athletics Director’s Honor Roll is an opportunity to showcase the academic success achieved by our student-athletes. The number of those recognized continues to rise year over year, and that shows the level of commitment that the student-athletes display towards academics,” said Dan Vélez, M.S., director of athletics. “Additionally, I have to recognize the coaches and athletic staff for the high academic standards they have in their own right and how the entire department strives for a culture of academic success.”

Five student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA during the semester: Women’s lacrosse players Ashley Claud and Madison Hausch, men’s lacrosse player Matthew Murphy, Nick Sanacore on the men's soccer team, and baseball player Nicholas Tedesco.

“Our leadership, starting with coaches and moving throughout the athletics structure, has very high academic standards and actively strives for a culture of success,” said Vélez.
