September Highlights

Classes are back in session, but there is still plenty to do outside of the classroom. Take a moment to step away from the books and computer and check out any number of activities going on around campus in September. Here are two not to be missed:
September 20 – 22
NYIT-Long Island
2019 Homecoming and Family Weekend
Alumni, friends, students, and families are invited to New York Tech’s 2019 Homecoming and Family Weekend. The event will kick off on Friday, September 20 at 6 p.m. with an alumni reception to welcome the Class of 2019. On Saturday, attendees can participate in a number of activities including campus tours, a barbecue, a Q&A with President Hank Foley, Ph.D., as well as watch the men’s and women’s soccer teams take on Daeman College and more. And cheer on the New York Yankees as they take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.

Tech Workforce of the Future: Women and Minorities
New York Institute of Technology’s Women’s Technology Council is a newly formed group of women leaders whose goal is to empower and inspire others within the university community and beyond. The organization’s second event, “Tech Workforce of the Future: Women and Minorities,” will focus on new careers and technology, leadership in business and entrepreneurship, millennials and Gen Z career needs, and research on gender and minorities. Attendees will hear from a panel including Edie Weiner, president and CEO of The Future Hunters; Catherine A. Allen, chairman and CEO of The Santa Fe Group and member of the New York Tech Board of Trustees; Shamla Naidoo, managing partner at IBM Global Security Services; and New York Tech President Hank Foley, Ph.D.
Speakers also include a New York Tech student and alumni:
- Juuhi Ahuja (M.B.A. ’92), founder and CEO, Wise Men Consultants
- Dan Ferrara (D.O. ’86), northeast regional president, Alteon Health
- Noshin Raisa, electrical and computer engineering major, New York Institute of Technology
