NYIT Helps Fight Cyberspace Invaders

September 23, 2015

To fill a need for education and awareness of Internet attacks, NYIT School of Engineering & Computing Sciences hosted its first cybersecurity conference in September 2009. In a keynote address at the inaugural conference, Eric Cole (B.S. ’93, M.S. ’94) urged attendees not to wait for the signs of a cyberattack to start protecting their digital assets. “If you’re not seeing them, you’re not looking in the right spots,” he said.

Six years later, his words still ring true, and the conference has become an annual tradition to share ideas, discuss trends and challenges, and propose solutions to cybersecurity issues that affect every human being in the world. Experts come from various fields—engineering, government, business, and academia—and many are NYIT alumni.

The 2015 NYIT Cybersecurity Conference takes place on Thursday, Sept. 24. For the latest updates, follow the hashtag #nyitcyber on Twitter. For more information, visit the conference webpage.
