New York Tech’s IT Group Shines in Long Island Press

The January 2021 issue of Long Island Press features not just one, but four, articles about New York Tech’s achievements and recent faculty/staff honors. Highlights of New York Tech’s visibility and accolades include: 

The Long Island Press and LISTnet “Top Techies Awards” honor the people that companies large and small rely on to make their technology work, and New York Tech has two winners.

  • The Client Support Services team, representing New York Tech’s IT first responders during the pandemic, is honored for providing and supporting the technology needed to address a continuously changing set of circumstances due to COVID-19 and its unwavering commitment to solutions-driven approaches to meet individual and institutional needs. Read more about the team, which was also nominated for its “empathy and patience with the faculty, students, and staff who needed to quickly learn new technologies so that they could continue to teach, learn and work online,” according to Pennie Turgeon, M.B.A., vice president for Information Technology and CIO.

Team members include: Laurie Harvey, director of Academic Technology Services (former director of client services); Matthew Koziarz, manager, ITS; Anthony Vizzari, client support advisor; Lillian Vanegas, client support advisor; Alexander Gusmano, client support advisor; Diego Grisales, technical support specialist; Philip Rivelli, technical support specialist; Ian Omar, manager of desktop support services; Evan Sampson, technical support specialist; Chris Scalchunes, technical support specialist; Andrew Deng, technical support specialist; Quizan “Ted” Mullings, assistant director of Client Services; John Gass, lab support specialist; Edgar Rodriguez, lab support specialist; Dennis McAleer, senior media services technician; William Stennett, assistant director of Client Services; David Webster, lab support specialist; Jonathan Worrell, lab support specialist, and Anthony Normil, lab support specialist.

  • Saverio Marsicano, College of Engineering and Computing Sciences senior lab engineer, is recognized for his work in assisting students with implementing their design projects and lab experiment, and for maintaining more than eight engineering labs as well as the data and cyber centers for faculty research. The newly created Academic Technology Services (ATS) department is profiled in a Q&A with Director Laurie Harvey. She explains how the department is leveraging the interactive and creative nature of technology, combined with the engaging content and expertise of New York Tech faculty, to create exceptional learning experiences for students.
