From customer reviews and video testimonials to brand ambassadors, it’s clear there is power in word-of-mouth marketing.

According to a Nielsen survey, 92 percent of global consumers trust recommendations from people they know, while 70 percent of people trust customer opinions posted online.

So, who better to tell current and prospective students the advantages of a New York Tech education than students? In Fall 2020, the university launched the social media ambassadors program, where students showcase what it’s like to live and study in New York.

The program kicked off with Harminderjeet Kaur, majoring in mechanical engineering, and Antonio Perez, an architecture major. Their clever posts have garnered more than 2,000 views on the institution’s Instagram page and 10,000 on their ambassador accounts.

As a result, a number of students have messaged ambassadors for vital information on how they can attend New York Tech, the application process, and what kind of content they would like to see in the future from the social media ambassadors.
