Globesville Plays Host to High School Students

January 17, 2017

NYIT students and faculty members welcomed 30 media students from Kellenberg Memorial High School to introduce them to Globesville, the interactive news and entertainment network for the NYIT global community, and get hands-on experience by working with the NYIT student team.

“The Kellenberg students are interested in the video journalism production field, so we wanted to introduce these potential students to our program,” said John Hanc, associate professor of communication arts.

The high school students are part of the E.T.V. (education television) program, which gives students the opportunity to film, direct, and broadcast in a closed circuit television program on their campus.

“The introduction of high school students to the NYIT Communication Arts department is a great way to let the students know what we have to offer,” said Hanc.

“Kellenberg and the Globesville program have the same philosophy: to provide students with a rich quality education experience in an interactive friendly atmosphere,” said Kevin Horton, adjunct professor and faculty advisor to The Campus Slate. “It was great watching those two shared philosophies of education play out. The students—both from Kellenberg and NYIT—learned a lot.”
