Training in Policy Studies (TIPS)

The Training in Policy Studies (TIPS) program helps you prepare for leadership roles by becoming an expert on health policy issues. Be on the front lines of administering legislative change, serve on committees that work with state and federal agencies to influence lawmakers, testify on issues relevant to osteopathic medicine, and formulate policy decisions. Upon completion, you'll earn up to six credits and receive an AOA Certificate in Training in Policy Studies.

The curriculum includes three-day seminars in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and New York. Areas of study include:

  • federal and state policy making
  • healthcare access, cost, and quality
  • health economics
  • managed care
  • medical education
  • multicultural medicine
  • vulnerable populations
  • workforce and labor issues
